Background of Twintech

The history of Twintech International University College of Technology (TWINTECH) dates back to 1993 when it was founded by Allahyarham honourable Senator Professor Datuk Dr. Ismail Md. Salleh where the university college was earlier known as Twintech Institute of Technology.

In 1996, Land & General Berhad invested and the name of the institute was changed to L & G Twintech Institute of Technology. In 2003, Minister of Higher Education invited the institute to upgrade to University College status. Hence, this has brought about the emergence of Twintech International University College of Technology.

TWINTECH has established itself as one of the leading higher education providers of value-added education, offering world-class programmes to help in preparing Malaysians to meet the nation’s needs for qualified professionals towards its progress for future national development. Today, TWINTECH has successfully established a brand name in ‘TWINTECH’ both locally and internationally.

Throughout the years, TWINTECH has had various achievements and recognitions to be proud of; including the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) status and ISO 9001: 2008 for 2011-2014. What is even more to be proud of is the ISO recognition not only covers its academic programmes, but also involves the whole administration and operation in TWINTECH.

As the provider of higher learning, TWINTECH constantly strives to offer more and better courses to its students. This is also important to further complement the other public higher learning institutions in giving and providing more options to students in terms of deciding their fields of study. The main objective is to provide affordable, cost effective and quality education through continual intellectual and social development of the students.

In 2021, TWINTECH has successfully been acquired by two higher education groups namely Jesselton Education Group and Geomatika Education Group. Thenceforth, the establishment will be under a new management and relocation of campus to George Town, Penang, is anticipated subjecting to the approval from the Department of Higher Education. Thus realigning its strategic coverage to the northern peninsula of Malaysia.
